In this Dr. Dish Drill of the week from [Coach Tony Miller,](https://www.bjubruins.com/staff-directory/dr-tony-miller/8) he demonstrates a great drill called Contested Closeout Shooting focused on game-like action against a defender.  Checkout the full breakdown below!

 

It can be a challenge creating game-like shooting drills for small group workouts (e.g., 2-4 players). This contested shooting drill simulates game-like shooting with a defender quickly closing out.

### Contested Closeout Shooting

- The defender will start at 3-point line.
- The shooter will start 5 to 6 feet behind the 3-point line.
- On the Dish’s pass out to the shooter, the shooter steps in to receive the pass at the 3-point line.
- At the same time, the defender touches the free throw line then sprints to contest the shot.Want more from Coach Tony Miller?
