Basketball Drills: Flare Screen Shooting with Tony Miller

Written by Tony Miller | Oct 1, 2021 4:00:00 PM

In this drill, Coach Tony Miller breaks down a great way for teams to incorporate flare screens and shooting into their workouts. Check out the full breakdown in the video below!

Flare screens can be difficult for defenses to guard, which is why a lot of teams incorporate flares somewhere in their offenses. Whether it’s an open shot for the player coming off the screen or a look for the screener, someone is usually left open.

Flare Screen Shooting

  • Player 1 receives a pass from the Dish and passes to the coach.
  • Player 2 sets a flare screen for Player 1.
  • The coach makes a skip pass over to Player 1 for the shot.
  • Player 2 receives a pass from the Dish and shoots.
