Former 3x NBA Champion and NBA Coach of the Year [Byron Scott](https://blog.drdishbasketball.com/dr.-dish-welcomes-byron-scott-to-the-family-with-nba-shooting-challenge) demonstrates a great drill centered around L cuts to create space for open shots using the [Dr. Dish Home machine](https://www.drdishbasketball.com/home).

Throughout this drill players need to focus on positioning their body towards their target and maintaining proper balance! Check out the full demonstration in the video below!

### The "L" Drill

- This drill consists of 5 different shots with L cuts to create space for the open look.
- **Catch and Shoot: **The first shot has players starting at the baseline and then L cutting by going all the way up the lane and popping out to the wing for a pass from the Dish. This is followed by a shot right away.
- **1 Dribble Right: **The next shot still has players starting at the baseline and then making an L cut up the lane and popping out to the wing. After the pass from the Dish, players will dribble to the right once and shoot.
- **Floater/Runner: **Players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble right, down the middle of the lane for a floater.
- **1 or 2 Dribble Pull Up: **Once again, players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will take one or two dribbles toward the baseline and shoot.
- **1 Dribble Step Back:** For the last shot, players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After catching the pass, players will take a dribble to the right and step back for a shot.If you're ready to take your game to the next level like Byron Scott, make sure to check out all of our Dr. Dish shooting machine models below!
