Our partner and basketball skills trainer Shane Hennen took on the ultimate shooting challengeโseeing if he could outshoot his Dr. Dish CT+! Watch as he compares his workouts with and without the machine, and see the results in the video below!
Shane's challenge was to make as many shots as possible in a 20-minute workout, comparing his performance with and without the Dr. Dish CT+. Setup time was deducted from the workout time, so after a quick 2-minute setup, Shane was ready to kick off the challenge!
His goal was to make 25 shots from the corners and wings, focusing on 2pt and 3pt shots. First he completed the workout using the Dr. Dish, took a break before trying it againโthis time retrieving his own rebounds.
Shane completed the challenge on the Dr. Dish, making 162 shots in 18 minutes (2-minutes was deducted for setup for fair comparison). Without the machine Shane was able to make 135 shots in 20-minutes.
Shane pointed out, "that doesn't seem like much of a difference but let me tell you what really matters here." and then outlined the differences training one way vs the other.

Shane's main takeaway: there are different ways you can/should train with vs without a shooting machine. For example, without a shooting machine you can work on specific shots focused on consistency and game-speed movement. He specifically called out when training with a shooting machine you can focus on a specific shot like lifts and drifts from the corner to the wing or just getting a bulk amount of reps up!
