Basketball Drills: 2v1 Contested Shooting with Joerik Michiels

Written by Jeremy Rushing | Nov 19, 2021 4:00:00 PM

Elite Academy founder and international Skills Trainer Joerik Michiels introduces a great drill for ball movement and reading the defense to get the best possible shot.

2V1 CONTESTED SHOOTING PROGRESSION

In all progressions, the first player begins on either wing, dribbles into the paint, and kicks to the opposite wing to begin the 2v1.

Progression 1 - Offensive players get one dribble and one pass each
Progression 2 - Player who catches pass must use dribble
Progression 3 - Push-Pull with offensive players
Progression 4 - Three Options: Dribble Handoff, Fake Handoff, Deny Early

Scoring: Two points for a make, one point for an assist

If you score, you stay on offense and other players rotate offense/defense. If you miss, you automatically switch to defense.
