As you teach your players how to keep spacing within your half court offense, one of the confusing aspects is what to do after a drive and kick when the next player drives it again.
In this scenario, we use an “Escape” to give the ballhandler room to drive. In many instances, the defender who is guarding the player who just passed (in the diagram below, the defender guarding player 2) will frequently help on Player 1’s drive. If an “escape” is used by Player 2, the result is often an open shot for Player 2 on the pass back from Player 1.
