Team Drills: Drive, Kick, Clear Concepts with Coach Liam Flynn

Written by Nick Bartlett | Apr 21, 2019 3:12:00 PM

We were very fortunate to have International Professional Coach Liam Flynn from Australia in the Dish Lab to demonstrate some of his favorite ways to use Dr. Dish shooting machines in a team setting!

In this Drive Kick Clear progression, the main emphasis is inserting a defender to force the offensive players to understand the decision making concept.

Also, after the creator makes the initial pass it’s essential for the player to clear and relocate to maintain spacing.

Check out the full progression below and use these basketball drills in your practices and team training sessions!

Again, this is a great team drill that works on multiple skills (shooting, dribbling, passing, decision making, defense, spacing, etc.).

Here's the full progression:

  1. Drive Kick Clear - Pass to the opposite corner for shot 1. Creator relocates to same side corner and receives pass from the Dr. Dish for shot 2.
  2. Drive Kick Clear - Player in the corner makes shake cut to wing and receives pass from the creator for shot 1. Creator relocates to the opposite corner for shot 2 from Dr. Dish.
  3. Drive Kick Clear - Player in the corner makes shake cut to wing and receives pass from the creator again. This time the creator relocates to the opposite corner and receives a pass from the player on the wing for shot 1. Dr. Dish then passes to the wing for shot 2.

Using the Dr. Dish CT shooting machine is a perfect way to maximize reps and keep players accountable.
