Basketball Drills: Louisville X Out Layups
by Nick Bartlett, on Dec 30, 2019 10:43:53 AM
In this drill Coach Sam Purcell of the University of Louisville Women's Basketball team demonstrates a great way to use their Dr. Dish CT shooting machine away from the basket to work on finishing at the rim. This is also a great way to work on pivoting, attacking the basket, finishing in multiple different ways, and outlet passing.
Make sure to listen up and incorporate the fundamentals that Coach Purcell emphasizes in his breakdown!
Most shooting machines are only designed to be used under the basket. With the Dr. Dish CT and Dr. Dish All-Star machines, you are able to pull the machine away from the basket to deliver game location passes. This allows you to work on finishing at the rim and taking shots from where you receive passes in a game.
While the main emphasis is focusing on finishing at the hoop, it's also essential to work on proper pivoting, sweeping and attacking low, and making proper, crisp, outlet passes.
Try this in your practices and training sessions!
