Our very own Coach Mason demonstrates a great drill incorporating two key footwork fundamentals for players to work on. Check out the full breakdown and video demonstration below!
Shooting Footwork Fundamentals
- Step-in Shooting: players will plant and anchor their dominant foot and then step-in off the pass from the Dish and shoot.
- Rhythm Shooting: Right handed shooters will start with their right foot forward and then off the pass step with their left foot and then right foot quickly into their shot. Left handed shooters will start with their left foot forward and then off the pass step with their right foot then left foot quickly into their shot.
This drill provides value to players at every single level. As players improve their shooting footwork fundamentals they will be able to recognize what footwork to use depending on the game situation. Remember, it's important that whenever you're about to shoot you have your feet and hands ready to knock down the shot!
