In  Coach Tony Miller's 11th Dr. Dish Drill of the week, he breaks down small-sided games (SSGs), a great 1 v 1 drill to focus on decision making skill development. Check out the full breakdown below!

SSG 1v1

Small-sided games (SSGs) are great tools for incorporating decision making skills into skill development workouts.

In this 1 v 1 drill:

  • Create a small advantage for the offense by placing players hip-to-hip.
  • The defender can not move until the offensive player receives a pass from the Dr. Dish.
  • On the catch, the offense attempts to score with a paint finish.
  • You can get even more creative as a coach by limiting the number of dribbles or requiring players to use certain finishes around the basket.
