Congratulations to 3X MN State Champions Olivia Olson and Maddyn Greenway

As the high school basketball season draws to a close, it's been filled with unforgettable moments and thrilling state championship tournaments. We've had the privilege of following two remarkable local MN athletes: Olivia Olson, a Senior combo guard at Benilde-St. Margaret's and Michigan commit, and Maddyn Greenway, a Sophomore point guard at Providence Academy. Despite playing for different teams, both secured their 3rd state championship title - Maddyn Basketball (2024, 2023, 2022) Olivia Basketball (2024, 2023) and Soccer (2023)! Olivia Olson - Benilde-st. Margaret's
Olivia has had an incredible high school career earning some of the following accolades:
- 3X State Champ - Basketball (2023, 2024) Soccer (2023)
- 2,000+ Career Points
- McDonald's All American
- Gatorade Player of the Year
- Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) All-Tournament Team (2024)
- Named to the 2024 USA Women's Nike Hoop Summit Team
- Gold Medal: FIBA Americas U16 Championship (2021)
The BSM girls basketball team won the 2024 Class AAA State Championship on Saturday, March 16th 2024, over DeLaSalle 81-58 at Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota. Before that, the team finished their regular season 27-5. When asked about the win Olivia shared, "Tonight was so much fun and exciting way to end our season...I'm proud of our team and the people who weren't on last year's team got to experience this together today." Olivia finished the game with a total of 31 points.
We can't wait to follow along what's next for Olivia Olson as she continues her journey at Michigan.
Maddyn Greenway - Providence Academy
Maddyn Greenway is making waves early in her basketball career. As a sophomore she's already racked up 3,000+ career points. She's also caught the attention of many high-level Division I teams such as Iowa, TCU, Tennessee, Baylor, UCLA, and more!
Clutch game moments are always needed but even more so during a state championship game. Maddyn scored with 9 seconds remaining on the clock to lead Providence Academy to their third Minnesota Class 2A title. She finished the game with 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. An awesome finish to the season, we can't wait to continue following along Maddyn's high school journey!
