This past weekend we crowned more champions than just in Minneapolis or New Orleans.
The GEICO National High School Championships also took place over the weekend, with Dr. Dish Fam members Montverde Academy, led by head coach Special Jennings, taking home the trophy for the first time in program history!
Jennings, in only her 2nd year at the helm, talked about how much the accomplishment means to her and the program.
"It’s a surreal moment,” Jennings told the Fort Myers News-Press. “What we’ve been able to achieve in the last two years and this year alone, I don’t even know what to say. We prepared for this. The girls have been wanting this. This is our goal from the beginning of the year and to be able to actually attain it is special.”
Throughout the year, Montverde was preparing for the possibility of competing at GEICO Nationals using their Dr. Dish All-Star+. Check out why Special Jennings chose Dr. Dish for Montverde's training below.
The Eagles capped off their title run with a 61-57 win over New Hope in Sunday's championship game, erasing a seven point deficit midway through the 4th quarter.
We at Dr. Dish would like to congratulate Special and Montverde on a fantastic season and taking home the hardware!
