Suggested Accessories for your Basketball Shooting Machine

If you're a recent Dr. Dish customer and are on the hunt for suggestions on what accessories you need to maximize our shooting guns - you've come to the right place! Keep reading for the items you will need to utilize your Dr. Dish shooting machine and others you'll want to consider.
1. Basketballs
We often get the question, "How many basketballs do I need for my Dr. Dish?" We suggest 3 basketballs minimum and no more than 5 to operate the machine. You want to make sure there is always a ball in the feeder, ready to drop down to be launched! The Dr. Dish machines work best with 28.5 or 29.5 basketballs. Buy indoor/outdoor balls if you intend to use the machine outside. Most schools and colleges use our machines with regulation balls.
2. Extension Cord
An easy accessory to oversee is a 3-prong extension cord! You will want to get an outdoor extension cord even if you are indoor due to its durability. Consider a brighter color with outdoor use and designate it to the machine - like orange or yellow. Nothing is more annoying than going to use a shooting machine and not being able to locate a power cord for it (see #7 for an alternative to this).
3. Protective Cover
One of our most popular accessories is our whole machine protective cover. This shooting machine cover is made from a thick canvas and protects the machine from dust and debris. This cover does not protect from water due to the possibility of undercarriage splash up from rain. Be sure to store the machine indoors!
4. Training Cones
An easy to get and inexpensive accessory to help you train on your new Dr. Dish are agility cones. We use these periodically in our on-demand training videos, and encourage you to do the same! Cones help set perimeters and destinations.
5. Speaker or Integrated System
Who doesn't enjoy pumping up the jams when training? For this reason, we encourage you to snag a Bluetooth speaker to accompany your basketball training sessions. If you haven't bought your machine yet, consider getting the integrated sounds system on the CT or All-Star machine.
6. All-Terrain Cart
Some outdoor users need help transporting the Dr. Dish through grass, rocks, or uneven ground. Available for the All-Star and Rebel machine, the all-terrain cart raises the machine slightly and transports it on thicker wheels for easy transport.
7. Portable Battery Pack
As you read earlier, an extension cord is a necessity in most cases to use the machine. The Dr. Dish All-Star, Pro, and Rebel do have a portable power pack accessory which allows for cordless training! A battery accessory for the CT is coming in 2020.
8. Heart Rate Monitor
For those who are very in-tune with their body and training zones, you may want to consider buying a heart rate monitor kit. The Dr. Dish CT and All-Star Machine display your heart rate when training and can help encourage you to work harder!
9. Fake Defender Landmark
A fake defender is a great way for a player to practice on elevating up on their shot and ignore distractions like a "hand in the face". These can also double as landmarks in a drill. This is especially nice for a player who trains by themselves often.
10. Agility Ladder
An agility ladder, while not used in drills directly on the Dr. Dish shooting machine, is a good idea to have as a developing athlete. Basketball is a game where footwork, balance, and quickness are all important skills to have. An agility ladder can help you with that.
