The Most Recruited Player in Quebec History Shares His Secret

“What would you sacrifice to make it to the next level?” A question Coach Andrew Hertzog of Vainer College asks all of his players. Often the answer is “everything”. However, few individuals live up to that expectation of truly giving “everything”.
Meet Karim Mane. The 6’5” explosive, and aggressive point guard who has made a name for himself as the most recruited player ever in Quebec history. Before there was stardom, Karim was asked the same question by Coach Hertzog “What are you willing to sacrifice?”
Karim, an already extremely gifted athlete, knew he had to improve on his shooting to become an even deadlier threat. Getting that perfect shot down wasn’t going to come easy. Karim began his mornings taking a 2 hour city bus trip to the school, where he would start in the gym shooting on their Dr. Dish. After practice finished at 8 p.m. Karim would head to the weight room before finishing his night off on the Dr. Dish once more. “We began joking around that the Dr. Dish was his girlfriend as it seemed like he never was with anything else” Coach Hertzog said. After a late night in the gym, Karim would take yet another 2 hour bus ride home. Through all of this, Karim still managed near Ivy League school grades as well as being fluent in 3 languages. “There is nothing more you can say besides he is the “complete package”. The work ethic he displays to excel in everything he does, reflects on his remarkable character.”
Now a 5 star recruit, having offers from some of the most prestigious collegiate basketball programs in the nation as well as being looked at by 20 NBA teams, Karim is well on his way to accomplishing his dream of playing in the NBA.
We recognize Karim and Coach Hertzog of Vainer College for demonstrating our core value of “Being Better Everyday”. Without Karim's dedication to the game, something most players aren't willing to do, he would not be where he is today. Dr. Dish is grateful to have been just a small part of his story.
What are you willing to sacrifice to reach your dreams?
