Anthony Edwards has taken the league by storm being one of the most exciting players to watch. The young phenom led the Minnesota Timberwolves to their second best record in franchise history this season. His game has already been compared to player like Michael Jordan, Vince Carter and more greats. We're here to give you a training routine modeled after Ant's game.
Move 1: Size Up Isolation
- Size up defender off the catch
- Dribble Hesitation to keep your defender guessing
This move will freeze defenders while creating room and space to get your jumper off. Selling the downhill drive is the key to this move. Make sure to master the between pull back move to avoid traveling or carrying the ball.
Move 2: Between Between Side Step
- This move can be performed off the catch or as a move in isolation
- Use the double in between dribbles to sell the drive either direction
Another isolation move to create space and a path to get a clean jumper off. The double in between will keep the defender flat footed and allow for a clean side step. Ant often uses this in the mid range or from deep.
Move 3: Downhill Cross Stepback
- Again this move will work off the catch or to get open in an isolation
- Dribble downhill either direction on your defender
- After one dribble, crossover into the middle of the court
- Stepback away from the defender for an open look
Anthony Edwards often uses this move into a midrange shot and uses the glass if driving away from the paint. Use your speed and stay balanced on the stepback for a more open shot.
