Dr. Dish Basketball is back at it again with another great team drill. It's the time of the year where coaches are tightening up practices and really focusing on sharpening skills. This time of the year is when coaches are beginning to know the strengths and weaknesses of their teams and really start to make adjustments.
It's important to continue to train hard and game-like throughout the season in practice - especially with your basketball shooting drills. Oftentimes coaches will decrease the amount of practice time as the season nears its end and this is when it becomes extremely important to utilize practice time the right way and efficiently.
This team shooting drill will help work on floor spacing, shooting, and also aggressively attacking the rim for a drive and kick shot. All four players will work together to maintain proper spacing and move when it is necessary to move. Using the Dr. Dish All-Star shooting machine, you are able to get high reps in and you won't have to worry about chasing balls everywhere. You can also program team shooting goals so that the players get fired up and motivated to successfully complete the drill!
TEAM CORNER WING SHOOTING DRILL
PLAYER MOVEMENT
In this team shooting drill you need at least 4+ players. The Dish is going to make two passes to the strong side wing player. You then will have two players starting strong side short corner popping out to the corner three point line. The last player will be opposite wing three point line.
On the first pass from the Dish, the offensive player will make a quick pass to the player popping out to the strong side corner for a three point shot. That same player will receive another pass from the Dish and this time will attack the paint middle hard and kick the ball out to the opposite wing player for the three point shot. The players will rotate clockwise each time and have an opportunity to take shots and also attack the hoop.
SPACING
This basketball shooting drill is great for motion offense action. In this drill each player wants to make sure to hustle to their spots and also make sure to keep proper spacing so that lanes are open to attack. Its important to make the defender believe you are trying to get to the rim so that the help side defense steps in and leaves their offensive player. The player starting near the opposite three point wing will space out to keep space when the offensive player is attacking the hoop. If that player doesn't space out, then the help side defender can guard two players at once. This drill simulates great game action which is more realistic to what is going to happen in games. Be sure to focus on the fundamentals and also communicate to each other to successfully complete the drill!
