Dr. Dish Basketball was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend the Boo Williams EYBL Nike Invitational tournament this past April! This AAU tournament is host to some of the best high school basketball players in the country. Teams traveled to Hampton, Virginia from all over the country to compete against the best. Players had the opportunity to play in front of the best college coaches in the country in hopes to earn a scholarship at the next level.
Boo Williams Sportsplex hosted the premiere event and his hometown team was one of the top teams in attendance. His AAU program utilizes two Dr. Dish All-Star shooting machines to help develop players and maximize training for their program. We had the opportunity to sit down with Boo Williams himself to talk about some of his accomplishments in coaching and also the community. Boo has built a powerhouse that continues to push out Division 1 basketball players and multiple NBA players as well.
Check out our interview with the legendary Boo Williams and also our experience at the Boo Williams NIKE EYBL Invitational tournament below!
One thing Boo said that stood out to us was that he thought skills training was extremely valuable and important with the development and success of the player. With AAU, regular season, and other basketball leagues going year round, it makes it tough for players to get actual skills work in. Game play and game action is priceless but when it's not balanced out properly with complete skills training then weaknesses are created. Thats why so many coaches are jumping on board with Dr. Dish shooting machines because of the game-like training and statistical feedback the machine provides. Players can now get efficient, purposeful, and complete workouts in using Skill Builder and Dr. Dish.
Dr. Dish was able to connect with many coaches throughout the tournament that have already made the decision to join the team and also many college coaches that have switched to Dr. Dish. This truly shows that our training capabilities and analytics is catching on with the most progressive coaches and players. It was interesting to hear the amazing feedback from the coaches that we were able to demo Skill Builder, too. We knew that we were on to something big, but the potential is unbelievable. Coaches loved hearing they had the option to choose from over 70 available pre-made workouts and also excited about the ability to create workouts themselves. The ability to specifically tailor workouts based around players weaknesses and also a coaches system, is something that has never been done before.
Once again we want to thank Boo Williams and his staff for inviting us to this amazing event and also for taking the time to sit down and chat with us!
