Former 3x NBA Champion and NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott demonstrates a great drill centered around L cuts to create space for open shots using the Dr. Dish Home machine.
Throughout this drill players need to focus on positioning their body towards their target and maintaining proper balance! Check out the full demonstration in the video below!
The "L" Drill
- This drill consists of 5 different shots with L cuts to create space for the open look.
- Catch and Shoot: The first shot has players starting at the baseline and then L cutting by going all the way up the lane and popping out to the wing for a pass from the Dish. This is followed by a shot right away.
- 1 Dribble Right: The next shot still has players starting at the baseline and then making an L cut up the lane and popping out to the wing. After the pass from the Dish, players will dribble to the right once and shoot.
- Floater/Runner: Players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will dribble right, down the middle of the lane for a floater.
- 1 or 2 Dribble Pull Up: Once again, players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After the pass, players will take one or two dribbles toward the baseline and shoot.
- 1 Dribble Step Back: For the last shot, players will L cut for a pass from the Dish. After catching the pass, players will take a dribble to the right and step back for a shot.
