College Championship Tournament Predictions and Hot Takes

March Madness is arguably one of the best times of the year for a basketball junkie. For teams and players, it’s an opportunity to become legends while extending the season with each win. There are almost no for sure wins in the college championship tournament these days with so much talent spread across the field. Let's take a look at some of the teams I think could make a run and also some upsets that could happen as well!

UConn (Contender)

The Huskies are poised for another postseason run. They have one of the most complete teams in college basketball and are well coached top to bottom. You can bet your money they will make a deep run by playing tough nose defense and also scoring the basketball at a high clip.

Houston (Contender)

The Cougars are arguably the best defending team in the tourney this year. Their players are relentless as soon as the ball is thrown up. They also have one of the best point guards in the game and his ability to control the tempo and mood of his team will be a determining factor on how far they go this year. The Cougars received the #1 seed, so plan on seeing them rattle off a few wins in dominant fashion early on.

NC State (Hottest Team)

One of the hottest teams right now is NC State. They won the ACC tourney by beating Duke, Virginia and North Carolina. Don’t be surprised if the Wolfpack stays hot and rattles off some wins, and even upsets, deeper into the tourney. One main key for them will be their inside outside play. Their dominant big man can easily control the paint but it will be on their guards to knock down shots when it counts.

Colorado (Upset)

The Buffalo’s won their first four game to make it into the round of 64. They are well coached by Tad Boyle and are a team that plays sound defense while sharing the ball well on offense. Their Freshmen phenom has struggled as of late, but look for him to have a big tourney. If he can contribute along with their seniors, this team has a chance to upset Florida in the first round and maybe win a few more games after that. 

UNC (My Pick)

My pick to win the championship this year is UNC. I think they are the most battle-tested team and also have the deepest team. They are well coached and have won several close games. They are coming off of a ACC title loss so there is extra motivation there to win. If they can play inside-out and push the tempo they will be a hard team to beat in March!
