Dr. Dish Basketball recently had the opportunity to sit down and chat with professional basketball player Mark Smith at the RBA Showcase in Las Vegas this past summer. Mark is currently playing for Nagasaki Velca in Japan. Earlier in his professional career, he spent time in Germany and Spain playing for top teams in both countries.
Prior to starting his professional basketball career, Mark played collegiate basketball at Kansas State, finishing up in 2022. That season he averaged 12.7ppg game while grabbing 8.4rpg, along with dishing out 1.7apg. In high school, mark was named the Illinois Gatorade player of the year and Illinois Mr. Basketball.
During our interview, Mark detailed how Dr. Dish has been part of his training from his early playing years all the way through his professional career. In the video below, check out how he trains in the offseason and also the experiences he’s had playing professional basketball overseas.
We appreciate Mark taking the time to chat with us about his career and also giving insight into what it takes to be a professional basketball player at the highest level. We wish him the best this year in Japan and look forward to following his journey as his professional career plays out.
