New Feature Release: Pass and Shot Location
by Emily Stiemsma, on Jan 5, 2024 9:03:29 AM
Now available on all Dr. Dish machines, you can build a custom drill and let the machine know whether you plan to "catch and shoot", "pass and shoot" or "dribble and shoot". This is an incredible evolution to a basketball shooting machine because it allows the machine to always know where the shot is being taken to keep your statistical heatmap 100% accurate.
Advanced players, coaches, parents, and trainers are known to have commented that a traditional shooting machine only tracks where the ball is passed to and not where the shot is taken from. Out of a desire for a more detailed and accurate way to track stats, we're introducing our latest patented* feature set: Pass and Shot Location.
By indicating on the court where the shot was taken, users can more clearly understand and report on their shooting performance around the court. Furthermore, you can also customize each "cluster" of actions you build by editing the tempo and number of balls for each location.
Get To Know OUR NEW BUILD A DRILL
Below, we'll break down 3 ways you can utilize this feature:
#1 - Catch and Shoot:
Inside our build a drill screen, you can select your locations and then uniquely define the TEMPO and # OF BALLS per that location. For example, I might want to shoot 5 times at the top of the key with a tempo 4, and then shoot 10 times from the baseline with a tempo 6 because I want to do a shot fake first.
#2 - Pass and Shoot:
Inside our build a drill, you can also indicate a location is a "passer" by double tapping on the location hexagon, this is where the machine will pass the ball to with the tempo you select. You will also identify where the pass is being made to, which indicates the "shooter" and where the stats will be saved to.
This is great if a Coach or parent is helping a player through a drill and feeding the shooter with a pass!
#3 - Dribble and Shoot
One of the most common ways a player might utilize this feature is when they plan to catch the ball, dribble, and then shoot. Inside build a drill, you will indicate where you want to receive the pass and where you will dribble to, to take the shot.
We hope you check out these new features and get to work on your Dr. Dish.
The Player App is compatible with the Dr. Dish Home machine for programming, but is FREE to browse and view your stats within for our other users. Download it here to explore!
