Why Two of Michigan's Most Decorated Players Train with Dr. Dish
When you've spent your entire life competing against your best friend, iron truly sharpens iron.
For twin sisters Summer and Indya Davis, basketball has always been bigger than individual success. It's about accountability, trust, and pushing each other to be better every single day. Now entering a new chapter together at Central Michigan University, the twins are bringing that same mindset to every workout, every practice, and every shot they take.
From winning multiple state championships in high school to navigating the challenges of the transfer portal and now preparing for a championship run in the Mid-American Conference, the Davis sisters have learned that growth doesn't happen by accident, it happens through intentional work and consistent training using Dr. Dish.
Built by Competition
Growing up as the youngest siblings in their family meant Summer and Indya always had each other. That closeness quickly translated to the basketball court.
"We were both super competitive," they said. "Neither one of us liked losing, so a lot of our development came from making mistakes and holding each other accountable on and off the court."
That competitive relationship helped shape two of Michigan's most decorated high school players. Their favorite memories include winning multiple state championships, defeating powerhouse Detroit Edison after its four-year undefeated streak in Michigan, and earning back-to-back Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
Those accomplishments weren't built on talent alone, they were built through years of challenging one another.

Trusting the Journey
Their road to Central Michigan wasn't as straightforward as they originally envisioned.
"This is our third school going into our third year, and that's something we never expected," they shared. "We always thought we'd stay at one school until graduation."
Instead of allowing those changes to discourage them, the sisters learned one of the most valuable lessons of their careers:
Go where you're needed. Not just where you're wanted.
They also realized the importance of asking better questions during the recruiting process and finding coaches who truly understood their games.
"We always knew Coach K was the best coach for us. She has known our family since seventh grade and understood both of our skill sets. It was difficult turning down Power Four opportunities, but we've matured enough to know what the right decision looks like."
Different Games. One Mission.
Although they're twins, their playing styles complement each other perfectly.
Summer thrives as a true point guard, creating opportunities, facilitating offense, and attacking when the moment calls for it.
"I love handling the ball, making plays for my teammates, and finding ways to score."
Indya's game earned her a nickname from their father: the "Swiss Army knife."
She's a versatile scorer capable of attacking off the dribble, stretching defenses, and using her strength inside against players of any size.
Despite their different offensive styles, one philosophy never changes.
"We've never had a 'me' mindset. Playing together has taught us that it takes more than one person to win. Defense wins games, and we want to set an example every day."
Why Purposeful Reps Matter
The Davis sisters believe there's a major difference between simply getting shots up and truly improving.
"You play like you practice," they said. "If you're just putting up shots without intention, it's really a waste of time because it doesn't translate to games."
That's where the Dr. Dish shooting machine has become an essential part of their development and a basketball Shooting machine for schools development tool as well.
By allowing them to consistently get hundreds and eventually thousands of game-speed repetitions, Dr. Dish helps recreate the rhythm and pace they'll experience during competition.
"This technology has improved our confidence and consistency by allowing us to get hundreds and thousands of game-like reps. The more we can practice the way we actually play, the more consistent our shot becomes. Our percentages are going up, and we've always wanted to become dependable go-to players."
Inside a Davis Sisters Dr. Dish Workout
Every workout starts with the fundamentals.
Summer and Indya begin with 15-20 minutes of close-range form shooting around the basket before progressing into quick pickup dribbles and game-speed shooting.
Lately, one of their favorite Dr. Dish workouts has been the Green Light Drill, which challenges both consistency and mental toughness.

"It teaches us to have a very short memory after missed shots."
From there, they work through:
- Catch-and-shoot repetitions
- Pull-up jumpers
- Three-point pickups
- Off-ball screen actions
- Footwork refinement
- Shooting mechanics through video review
- Evaluating the difference between good misses and bad misses
Every rep has a purpose.
Accountability Never Stops
Training together naturally creates competition.
"Yes, we challenge each other all the time, but more importantly, we hold each other accountable."
Whether it's making a certain number of shots in a row or seeing who can knock down the most quality shots while exhausted, every workout includes standards that push both players beyond their comfort zones.
That accountability has already translated into noticeable improvement.
For Summer, consistent Dr. Dish workouts have elevated one area of her offensive game more than any other.
"My catch-and-shoot has gotten so much better. I've always felt confident shooting off the dribble, but my averages are going up because of all the catch-and-shoot work."
Advice for the Next Generation
If the Davis sisters could leave young players with one message, it would be simple:
Quality always beats empty quantity.
"Quantity helps build muscle memory and consistency, but it doesn't mean much if your reps don't translate to a real game. Practicing the right way takes discipline."
Purposeful practice creates purposeful results.
Eyes on the MAC and Beyond
Both sisters have ambitious goals heading into the upcoming season at Central Michigan.
Summer wants to maximize her potential while competing for MAC Player of the Year, MAC Defensive Player of the Year, and All-American honors. She also wants to strengthen team chemistry, make a deep NCAA Tournament run, and continue learning from coaches with professional experience through film study and daily skill development.
Indya shares many of those same aspirations. She is focused on improving her shooting through intentional, game-like practice while helping Central Michigan compete for a MAC Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. Individually, she's chasing MAC Player of the Year, MAC Defensive Player of the Year, and hopes to lead the conference in double-doubles while setting even bigger national goals.
Those goals are lofty but they're built on habits.
Every film session.
Every drill.
Every purposeful rep.
For Summer and Indya Davis, greatness isn't something that happens on game day. It's earned long before the lights come on, one intentional shot at a time.
